Nazism is a manifestation of human nature, and is known by other names in different countries across the globe. On the surface, this book is a biography of Hermann Goering, but it is also an penetrating look at how several strikingly similar psychopathic individuals managed to hijack and destroy an entire nation within 12 turbulent years/5(). While it has some flaws (the broad sweep of some of the author's proclamations go far beyond Goering and his impact within Nazi Germany, as well as some minor typos), this book is a very insightful look into the machinations of the Nazi war machine, especially the heavy industries that made up Goering's commercial empire (the Reichswerke AG and the armaments and aircraft manufacturing sections /5. This book was a fascinating look at Goering. I would recommend reading William Shirer's "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" as the ultimate book on Nazi Germany. However, having read that one, all of Manvell's books are excellent supplements that provide a 4/5. That's what Hitler told Frau Emmy Goering that she was. I am very grateful for having found a copy of this book in English. Emmy was already an accomplished actress in the German theater when she met Hermann Goering, who was a widower/5(3).
